James L. SilvesterDo It
By James L. Silvester

The proof of the pudding is here ladies and gentlemen. You can have all of the best ideas in the world, but if you don't convert those ideas into action nothing will be accomplished. Even if your idea turns out to be something less than a winner, at least you experimented with that particular approach and the results can be recorded for future reference. So, take the initiative and direct your creative energies into tangible innovative results. Just remember the words of Jack Paar, who said, "Life is a series of obstacles, and we ourselves are the largest obstacles." Don't fall prey to cancerous inaction. If you are willing to experiment and learn, your ability to successfully convert ideas to innovation will increase.

Keep in mind that your survival in the present and future entrepreneurial environment will depend upon your ability and willingness to apply new ideas in a changing marketplace. Many small companies are reporting that they are diversifying their product and service lines in order to stay afloat. Products and services come and go, as you have learned elsewhere in this book. You must keep abreast of your market and know when to change. Without ideas in hand ready to go, you may miss the boat. Even if the market for your products or services is growing, you still may have to engage in creative and innovative endeavors to thrive. Why is this the case? Because we find ourselves in a highly competitive economy where everybody and his brother is trying to start a business. Attraction of future customers will depend upon your success in standing apart from your competitors. In other words, doing something different, like your customers with a new product or service, will help you in the game of entrepreneurship.

Lesson: Make A Daily Idea List. Pick The Best One For The Day. Act Upon It.
