| 401 Questions Every Entrepreneur
Should Ask is best selling author
James Silvester’s newest work in his “how
to” trilogy of entrepreneurial self-help books and perhaps
the most important. Seeing another entrepreneurial binge about to
emerge he is back in full stride providing a excellent book that will
become the “standard” of all self help
entrepreneurial books for years to come, much like his first book.
Recognizing
the business climate to be more risky than ever in these turbulent
economic times, Silvester sets out to provide an “all
inclusive” valuable reference source for both beginning and
seasoned entrepreneurs. He does this with
401 Questions Every Entrepreneur Should Ask.
It
is true that entrepreneurial trends come and go in the American
economy; however this most recent trend is “unique”
in itself for two distinct reasons. People are now choosing
entrepreneurship as a “profession”, as opposed to
traditional work environments. And women and minorities are making up a
very large share of this renewed entrepreneurial spirit.
Mom
and Dad taught us to study hard, work part-time while in school,
participate in sports, and join the various clubs in high school and
college. That these things would lead to good, steady, and secure jobs
throughout life. WRONG.
There
is no security left in Corporate America. As international competition
ravages our mainline companies, not to mention Wall Street’s
insistence on more and more streamlined firms, and let’s not
forget “outsourcing” even white-collar jobs to
India and China, the “so-called” good secure jobs
here in America are becoming nothing but myth.

| For many years some
universities offered one or two courses in entrepreneurship. Most were
considered “bastard” courses, along with the
professors who taught them. Now we see major collegiate curricular
developing across the nation in many universities and even bachelor and
masters degrees in entrepreneurship are commonplace. We are even
beginning to see large corporation trying to emulate entrepreneurship
within their ranks, sometimes referred to as
“intrepreneuring”.
Silvester
blends 27 years of professional and educational experience into this
work. The book basically reviews the operational environment of the
typical entrepreneurial firm based on twenty-five (25) functional areas
of operation. It poses a series of over 400 questions that any
entrepreneur should ask from time to time. Each question poses
“thought-provoking” issues that induce answers to
the questions and then goes on to explain the business consequences to
expect if any question is answered in the negative. The book then
develops further and instructs the entrepreneur on how to correct or
avoid the potential negative consequences.
This
book is very topical and its depth and scope is a testimony to the
author’s tenacity in delivering an
“all-inclusive” work.
